MP Shri Niranjan Bishi Demands Urgent Enhancement of Road Infrastructure Under PMGSY in Odisha
New Delhi /Bhubaneswar : Member of Parliament Shri Niranjan Bishi raised an important issue of improving road infrastructure under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). Addressing the Chairman, Shri Bishi highlighted concerns previously demanded by the former Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik, about the lack of support from the Central Government for road development in Odisha.Shri Bishi pointed out that despite many projects announced by the Union Government to build national highways and other roads, there has been little progress. The length of roads built under the PMGSY has also decreased over the years, making the state’s road infrastructure worse. In response, the then BJD Government, led by Shri Naveen Patnaik, started projects like the State Highways Development Programme and Biju Expressway Yojana to provide financial help for road construction. The State Government also set aside funds for other schemes to improve rural infrastructure. However, more support from the Central Government is still needed.Shri Bishi urged the Government of India to look into this matter and quickly allocate funds and assistance to improve road infrastructure in Odisha, which is essential for improving the deteriorating roads conditions and promoting economic and social development in the Odisha state.
