NALCO Chairman Accused of Serious Charges of Corruption


Bhubaneswar : Serious allegations of
Nalco ANAL corruption, favouritism
and financial irregularities have been
leveled against Sridhar Patra, the current
Chairman and Managing Director of NALCO. Recently the members and various office bearers of the Bharatiya
Sevak Samaj held a demonstration infront of the Head office of NALCO here and demanded action against Chairman Sridhar Patro. He was accused of awarding contract in excess of Rs 10000 crores to a company on the basis of
forged and invalid documents. They added
that this award of contract was done in violation of tender procedures as the
contract was awarded to a single bidder in
response to the invitation of bids. The reinvitation of bids for 2nd and 3rd time
was not followed which is a violation of the recommended practice. They alleged that the same company has been extended other favours as well. Patro was also accused of making personal trips Hyderabad and charging the cost of travel, lodging and boarding to NALCO which is a violation of to rules and should attract
action for misappropriation of funds of the company. The youth wing of the organization made a very serious allegation on the recruitment in NALCO
and said that under the chairmanship of Patro jobs in the organization have been offered to incompetent candidates
and crores of rupees have been collected as bribe from such candidates. They said
that thousands of candidates from very
reputed institutes have applied to NALCO in response advertisement for recruitment issued in January this year. However most of them never received any response and many eligible and qualified persons lost out while bribe givers were recruited. There is now a general demand among
the public and NALCO employees investigation of the allegations
punishment to the culprits including the CMD Patro.
