MP Shri Niranjan Bishi Demands Mobile Court Vans in Odisha

New Delhi, : During the Winter Session of Parliament, Rajya Sabha MP Shri Niranjan Bishi raised an unstarred question to the Ministry of Law and Justice regarding the establishment of mobile court vans in Odisha.Shri Bishi sought clarification from the Ministry on whether it intends to introduce mobile court vans in Odisha to ensure access to justice in remote and flood-prone regions of the State.In a written reply, the Minister of Law & Justice, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, informed the House that the Ministry currently has no proposal to establish mobile court vans in any part of the country. Shri Meghwal further stated that, to make justice accessible even in the most remote areas, the eCourts Mission Mode Project is being implemented in a phased manner through extensive use of information and communication technology.Under this project, initiatives such as electronic and online filing of cases, virtual hearings, online access to case information, and other citizen-centric services are being undertaken to facilitate remote access to justice. The Minister also clarified that Phase III of the eCourts Project does not envisage the establishment of mobile court vans.
